Skating Rink Update

Despite the unusually warm weather we’ve had this year, the skating rink has turned out pretty good. The kids are out there almost every evening after school right up until bed time. I love when the cousins come over and all the little kids skate around. They’re so freakin’ cute.

I’m not gonna lie, at first I was a little disappointed with the size. I was expecting it to be much bigger. Could have something to do with the way Tim sold me on the idea 🙂 . But after the initial disappointment, Tim brought up a good point. When he’s not here to shovel, am I really going to want to shovel a rink twice that size? So I came to my senses and was fine with it. But now, seeing how often the kids use it (and us too), and how they stay on top of shoveling, I’m back to wanting a much bigger one next year! Its gonna be great!! For now though, I’m loving all the time we’re spending outside together.

Once I get permission, I’ll put up some pics of daytime skating with the cousins. So cute.

Our first backyard project

We’ve been so busy with the houses (old and new) since November, that we’ve hardly had any quality time to spend with the kids. So today, after school, we decided to tackle our first backyard project. A skating rink!

The yard had a big part in our decision to purchase the house. It’s huge! Well, considering it’s in the city that is. A skating rink is just one of the many things we want to do with it. It doesn’t look like much yet as you can see, but soon enough it will. I can already picture the kids skating around under strands of white lights that will go from tree to tree… I can’t wait. For now though, spending time outside with the kids getting it ready is a welcome change from the current renovation chaos.
